Pritpal S Tamber is a doctor who works as an innovation consultant with a specific focus on the rapidly evolving information and technology landscape in health care. He is also the Founder of the Creating Health Collaborative.
Dr. Tamber trained as a medical editor at the BMJ and honed his craft at BioMed Central, the open access publisher that disrupted academic publishing using the Internet. He then ran ‘Faculty of 1000 Medicine’, the service that helped clinicians know which articles were worth reading from the thousands of journals in the world. Wanting to use information to improve clinical practice, he then moved to Map of Medicine where they created pathways designed to sit within health care IT systems to improve the delivery of care.
Since becoming a consultant in 2012, his clients reflect the evolving landscape of health care. He has since worked with: established organisations, like the New England Journal of Medicine and the Royal Society of Medicine; new players, like DigitasLBi and SP+EE; and those facilitating health care’s evolution, such as TEDMED and Silverchair, as well as venture capitalists (that like to remain anonymous). All of his clients have information and technology challenges; it is artificial – and unhelpful – to separate the two. See his working page to find out more.
